Commerce Bank Senior Vice President earns Small Business Administration Award

The Senior Vice President of Commercial Lending at Commerce Bank, Michael Killen, was recently bestowed with a Small Business Administration (SBA) Award based on gross SBA production dollars for the 2017 fiscal year. SBA partner, Premier Capital, presented the award to Killen.

“As a community banker working for a local community bank, it is important that we invest back into the community that we live, work, and play in. The resources that have been invested will enhance our community as it continues to grow,” said Killen.

Killen is a lifelong resident of Clark County, where he lives with his family. He has been a banker for over 20 years in the Southern Indiana market and specializes in commercial lending.

Commerce Bank named Indiana Small Business Lender of the Year

The Indiana Statewide Certified Development Corp. has named Commerce Bank of Evansville its 2017 Indiana Small Business Lender of the Year. The award is given to the Indiana bank that devotes the largest percentage of deposits to U.S. Small Business Administration 504 loans with the Statewide CDC.

Wahl promoted to Senior Vice President, Credit and Compliance Manager

Diane joined the Commerce Bank team in March 2015 as Vice President of Deposit Operations. After graduating from Eastern Illinois University with a BS in Accounting, she moved to Evansville where she began her banking career. She has over 30 years of local banking experience and has worked in various roles at First Federal Savings Bank, Old National Bank, and United Fidelity Bank. Diane most recently attained the accreditation of ACH Professional after passing the Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) Exam in 2016.

Luke Yaeger Named President and CEO of First Light Bancorp

Commerce Bank is proud to announce the appointment of Luke Yaeger as President and CEO of First Light Bancorp. First Light Bancorp is the bank holding company of Commerce Bank. He will also continue to serve also as President and CEO at Commerce Bank.

Yaeger has over 15 years of experience in banking and civic involvement. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business management from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN where he also graduated from the President’s Emerging Leaders Program. He also holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, IN. Mr. Yaeger is also a graduate of Louisiana State University’s Graduate School of Banking in Baton Rouge, LA.

He was part of the founding associates of Commerce Bank in 2006. In August of 2014, he was promoted to his current position of President and CEO of Commerce Bank.

Yaeger is incredibly active in the community and currently serves as the president of the Rotary Club of Evansville. He is also on the executive committees of Junior Achievement of Southwestern Indiana and Evansville Country Club. He also serves as the Vice Chair of Public Policy for the Chamber of Commerce of Southwestern Indiana.

New Chairman selected by Commerce Bank board

The Board of Directors of Commerce Bank announced the appointment of Tom Austerman to Chairman of the Board, effective immediately.

Mr. Austerman has over 47 years of experience in banking and as a community leader. He worked at National City Bank from 1986–1999 holding the position of President and Chief Administrative Officer from 1994–1999. He was then the Executive Organizer, founding President and CEO of Bank of Evansville from 2000–2005. He later founded Evansville Commerce Bank and served as President and CEO from 2006–2014. Tom is the ideal person to serve as Chairman of the Board with over 45 years as a community volunteer and active civic leader and his long history and knowledge of the banking industry.

Commerce Bank adds new Senior VP of Commercial Banking

Commerce Bank is proud to announce Steve Witting as Senior Vice President of Commercial Banking.

Steve Witting has accepted the above-mentioned position at Commerce Bank. Steve is a Graduate of Indiana University with a BS Degree in Finance, and Xavier University with an MBA Degree in Finance. Steve is also a graduate of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking. Steve started his banking career as a Teller in 1980 and has held numerous professional and management positions during his 30+ years in banking. Steve will be responsible for commercial loans and deposits as well as building relationships within the market in order to expand the Commerce Bank brand.

Steve is a Past President and active member of the Evansville Downtown Rotary Club. Steve is a Past President and current board member of the YMCA Metro Board and the Boys and Girls Club of Evansville, Inc. Steve also currently serves on the YMCA Camp Carson Board and the Diocesan Finance Council for the Catholic Diocese of Evansville. In addition to these affiliations Steve has held and continues to be active in numerous other professional, civic, and faith-based positions of responsibility in the greater Evansville area.

Commerce Bank names new Senior VP of Commercial Banking

Commerce Bank is proud to announce Brian Woods as Senior Vice President of Commercial Banking.

Brian Woods has accepted the above-mentioned position at Commerce Bank. An alumnus of the University of Southern Indiana, Brian graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising with an emphasis in Marketing. Brian previously held the position of Commercial Lender at Banterra Bank since June of 2011. Brian will be responsible for commercial loans and deposits as well as building relationships within the market in order to expand the Commerce Bank brand.

Brian is a member of the West Side Nut Club; serving as the Club’s Foundation Investment Committee Chairman, R-Men’s Varsity Club member, Junior Achievement Volunteer, and past Board Member and Board President for the Evansville Civic Theatre.
